Rep. Greg Steube urges Newsmax: Hunter Biden should be incarcerated
Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., stated that Hunter Biden is being shielded by a weaponized and politicized Justice Department in an interview with Newsmax on Thursday.
The Ways and Means panel approved the release of over 100 pages of new evidence from IRS whistleblowers Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, revealing that Hunter Biden lied under oath three times on February 28 while testifying before Congress.
Steube highlighted Biden’s falsehoods, which included lying about texting the wrong person and misrepresenting control over bank accounts, during an interview with “Newsline.”
“Perjury,” Steube emphasized, “is a federal crime and he should be held accountable for it.
“We should recommend to the Department of Justice for prosecution of Hunter Biden for these three perjury counts. He lied on three separate occasions.”
Hunter Biden’s testimony was part of the House impeachment inquiry involving allegations of influence peddling and other criminal activities by the president and his family members.
Steube emphasized the need for Hunter Biden to face consequences like any other individual.
“If this was any other American who committed half of these crimes, they would already be in prison,” Steube noted. “If it was a Republican member of Congress, they would also be in prison. The Department of Justice has been highly politicized, allowing the Biden family to escape scrutiny while targeting conservatives for minor offenses.”
Steube also criticized the FBI and Department of Justice for delaying tax crime charges from the IRS against Biden and allowing the statute of limitations to expire.
“That’s how corrupt the Justice Department is under Joe Biden,” he concluded.
