RFK Jr. to File FEC Complaint for Possible Debate Blockade
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, has accused the Biden and Trump campaigns of colluding with CNN. He plans to file a complaint with the Federal Elections Commission over his potential exclusion from the upcoming debate scheduled for June 27.
Kennedy claims there is evidence of collusion between the two major campaigns and CNN, particularly with the Biden campaign, as reported by mainstream media outlets. To participate in the debate, candidates must have at least 15% support in four recognized polls by CNN and be on enough ballots to secure 270 electoral votes.
Current polls show Kennedy at under 9% support, while Biden and Trump are tied at just over 40%. Kennedy stated that his campaign will have enough signatures for 343 electoral votes to qualify for the debate.
Despite his family ties to prominent political figures like his father Robert F. Kennedy and uncle President John F. Kennedy, Kennedy emphasizes that he is an outsider in politics. Fifteen members of the Kennedy family have endorsed Biden over him, citing disagreements on issues like Ukraine and Biden.
Both Trump and Biden have made comments about Kennedy during the campaign, with Trump initially expressing support for Kennedy but later attacking him after polls showed Kennedy pulling votes from Trump. Kennedy criticized Trump’s attacks as “unhinged” and expressed willingness to consider pardoning Trump if there is clear evidence of innocence.
On key policy issues, Kennedy voiced concerns about young people receiving puberty blockers and pledged to implement a federal standard prohibiting individuals under 18 from undergoing such treatments. He defended this stance by comparing it to restrictions on drinking and driving for minors.
