Napolitano tells Newsmax: Trump Trial Closing Arguments ‘Challenging’

According to retired New Jersey Superior Court Judge Andrew Napolitano, explaining the accusations against former President Donald Trump in the New York paperwork trial to the jury is no easy task. Napolitano mentioned on Newsmax that these charges have never been filed as a felony in New York before, usually resulting in a misdemeanor with fines and corrections. Crafting an explanation for the jurors, particularly the two lawyers among them, is a challenge that Judge Juan Merchan will have to navigate.

Following the explanation, the lawyers will prepare their closing arguments, leading to what Napolitano describes as “fireworks.” He suggested strategies for both the defense and government presentations, predicting a detailed and intense day of arguments from each side.

Napolitano also commented on the prolonged break in the trial, deeming it harmful to the defendant as the momentum built during cross-examination by Todd Blanche was interrupted by the eight-day gap leading up to Memorial Day weekend.
