Child’s Condition Critical After 4 Injured in Hackney Shooting


Four individuals, including three adults and a child, were taken to the hospital following a ‘drive by’ attack on a London high street.

A 9-year-old girl is currently in critical condition after a shooting in front of a restaurant in Hackney, east London, on Wednesday evening.

Chief Superintendent James Conway from the Metropolitan Police reported that the girl is fighting for her life, while the three men aged 26, 37, and 42 are in stable condition.

All four victims were shot by individuals on a passing motorcycle while they were dining at Evan Turkish restaurant on Kingsland High Street around 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

The 9-year-old girl was inside the restaurant with her family when she was injured, while the three men were seated outside.

It is believed that the girl and the men were not acquainted with one another.

Law enforcement authorities and London Ambulance Service arrived at the scene quickly after the incident was reported.

Mr. Conway mentioned in a press conference that the investigation is ongoing with the aim to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive behind the attack.

Police have recovered a stolen motorbike believed to be used in the shooting, but no arrests have been made yet.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Ward expressed shock over the incident and assured that a swift investigation is in progress.

London Ambulance Service also provided immediate medical assistance to the injured individuals before transferring them to a trauma center.

The Met Police has urged any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
