Daily Mail Poll: Trump’s Popularity Increases Following Guilty Verdict
Following a Manhattan jury’s guilty verdict on all charges related to a payment to Stormy Daniels, former President Donald Trump saw a rise in favorability ratings, according to a poll released Friday.
The New York jury reached the verdict on Thursday after approximately nine hours of deliberations over two days, convicting him on 34 felony charges of falsifying business records.
The poll conducted by JL Partners for the Daily Mail surveyed 403 likely voters on Thursday and Friday, revealing:
- 27% maintained a favorable view of Trump, unaffected by the verdict.
- 32% held an unfavorable view of Trump, with the verdict not changing their opinion.
- 22% had a favorable view of Trump, and the verdict actually improved their perception of him.
- 16% had an unfavorable view of Trump, and the verdict further worsened their opinion of him.
The poll had a margin of error of +/- 4.9 percentage points.
“Our quick poll of likely voters indicates that for the majority, the trial did not alter their existing opinions of Trump,” said James Johnson, pollster and co-founder of JL Partners, to the Daily Mail. “However, among those open to changing their view, there is a 6-point increase in positive sentiment. This surpasses the poll’s margin of error and is considered significant.”
Additionally, shortly after the verdict, Trump revealed that his presidential campaign had raised over $34 million from small-dollar donors.
