Is Jail Time on the Horizon for Donald Trump? Check the Polls.

Do not assume that the political maneuvers are over just because Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg and Judge Juan Merchan have orchestrated a questionable conviction of President Donald Trump: Sentencing is still pending.

Conveniently (for anti-Trump individuals), Merchan scheduled the hearing for July 11, just four days before the Republican convention begins.

This provides him with the opportunity to assess the polls and decide if President Biden requires further assistance.

If Trump’s current slight lead continues to grow in the next six weeks, expect Merchan to push for a harsh sentence.

Although uncommon, legal experts state that it is highly unlikely for a judge to send a first-time offender, convicted of a non-violent crime, to prison.

However, this particular judge has demonstrated a willingness to cross ethical boundaries when it comes to Trump.

It’s common knowledge that the entire trial was politically motivated.

Bragg, the prosecutor who typically avoids pressing charges, had to contort the case in order to bring felony charges, and he would not have pursued the case at all if the defendant’s name weren’t “Trump.”

Meanwhile, Merchan, who contributed to Biden’s campaign in 2020, displayed bias throughout the trial by favoring the prosecution over the defense, excluding crucial testimonies, imposing a gag order on the ex-president, and criticizing Trump’s legal team and witnesses unfairly.

Considering Trump’s increasing popularity in polls, it wouldn’t be surprising if Merchan decides on an unprecedented punishment to hinder his momentum further.

Trump is currently leading Biden in swing states and closing the gap in traditionally Democratic states like New York.

If his support continues to rise by July 11, Merchan and his Democratic colleagues may feel pressured to take drastic measures to “protect the country” from democracy.

The four criminal cases against Trump are clearly aimed at tarnishing his reputation, diverting his focus from the campaign trail, and benefiting the current president.

Keeping Biden in power is crucial for maintaining financial support from the government.

Sentencing Trump to prison may seem extreme, but it aligns with the disregard for norms displayed in this case.

Democrats, especially in New York, have prioritized retaining power above all else.
