Trump Urges Supreme Court to Decide New York Case

Former President Donald Trump is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to get involved in his New York criminal trial before his scheduled sentencing on July 11.

Trump made history on Thursday by becoming the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes in New York. A jury found him guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records as part of a scheme to unlawfully influence the 2016 election through payments to an adult film actor.

Expressing his concerns, Trump posted on Truth Social Sunday night, “The ‘Sentencing’ for not having done anything wrong will be, conveniently for the Fascists, 4 days before the Republican National Convention.”

He also criticized the involvement of District Attorney Alvin Bragg and Judge Juan Merchan, alleging their partisan biases. Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee for this year’s general election, has promised to appeal his conviction.

Trump appointed three current Supreme Court justices – Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh – and believes that the Supreme Court should make the final decision on his case.

In another post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “Nobody even knew what the crime was until the Judge gave his Unconstitutional Instructions. A total Hoax! A case like this has NEVER been brought before. A Country in peril. Election Interference!!!”

Trump also thanked former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson for calling the trial a “machine-gun mob-style hit job on Trump” and for acknowledging that it could increase Trump’s chances of winning.
