According to Toronto police, a shooting occurred outside an Etobicoke high school on June 2, resulting in the death of one man and injuries to four others.
Officers arrived at the scene just before 11 p.m. in the parking lot behind North Albion Collegiate Institute, near Mount Olive Drive and Kipling Avenue, where they found five individuals with gunshot wounds.
A man in his 50s was taken to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries and unfortunately died in the hospital. The other four adults sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Their genders have not been disclosed.
While details about the incident are limited, witnesses reported a black truck speeding away from the area after the shooting.
Due to the ongoing police investigation, the Toronto District School Board announced the closure of North Albion Collegiate Institute on June 3.
“The school (and on-site daycare) will be closed to students and staff today with students moving to remote learning for the day,” the school board stated in a post.
