Van Drew Claims Garland’s DOJ is the Most ‘Corrupt’ He’s Witnessed in an Interview with Newsmax
Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J., expressed his concerns to Newsmax on Tuesday about the Department of Justice under Attorney General Merrick Garland in the Biden administration, calling it the most corrupt he has seen.
Van Drew, a part of the House Judiciary Committee, heard testimony from Garland defending his agency’s independence and integrity. This comes amid claims from Republicans and allies of former President Donald Trump about a two-tiered system of justice.
“He talked about equal justice under the law, equal treatment for individuals,” Van Drew told “Carl Higbie FRONTLINE.” “And that’s completely opposite of what this Department of Justice does.
“I said it before, and I’ll say it again, this is the most corrupt and tainted Department of Justice we’ve seen in recent history. It’s expanding, getting bigger, and getting worse.”
Van Drew questioned why Garland’s DOJ did not intervene when New York Attorney General Letitia James, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis campaigned on prosecuting Trump without him facing any charges beforehand.
“They all said they would put Donald Trump in jail before even having all the facts,” Van Drew said. “It’s a tainted Department of Justice and it’s shameful. People want to trust the FBI, attorney general, and the DOJ, but they’ve been lied to about various situations.”
