Biden Urges Unity in Support of Ukraine During D-Day Commemoration
President Joe Biden commemorated the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday by affirming that “we will not turn away” from defending Ukraine and preventing Russia from threatening more of Europe.
“Surrendering to bullies, yielding to dictators, is completely inconceivable,” he stated during a ceremony at the American cemetery in Normandy. “If we were to do so, it would mean that we are forgetting the sacrifices made on these sacred beaches.”
D-Day was the largest amphibious assault in history, and Biden characterized it as a “compelling demonstration of how true alliances make us stronger.”
He emphasized that this is “a lesson that I hope we as Americans never forget.”
