Reagan Biographer Tells Newsmax: Biden’s D-Day Speech Was a ‘Fool’s Errand’
Political consultant and Reagan biographer Craig Shirley told Newsmax on Friday that President Joe Biden’s attempt to mirror former President Ronald Reagan in a speech on the 80th anniversary of D-Day in France was a futile effort and fell short.
Shirley, a guest on “Wake Up America”, stated that comparing Biden’s speech at Collevile-sur-Mer to Reagan’s remarks in 1984 at Pointe Du Hoc is like comparing “Paul Revere to Al Capone.”
Shirley vividly remembered Reagan’s speech even after 40 years, describing it as poignant, dramatic, principled, emotional, and evocative, while criticizing Biden’s D-Day message for lacking those qualities.
He expressed disappointment in Biden’s omission of mentioning Israel and the Holocaust victims in his speech, calling it shameful. Shirley also condemned Biden for not addressing the antisemitism present in America today.
Shirley deemed Biden’s attempt at a Reagan-like speech as a sign of weakness and inviting criticism, stating that he is unlikely to receive praise from either the American right or left.
