Birx Advises Newsmax: Conducting COVID Hearings Can Help Prepare for Future Pandemics

Former White House COVID-19 response coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx believes that the congressional hearings on COVID-19’s origins are crucial and could lead to the establishment of effective regulations and guidelines for future pandemics.

During an appearance on Newsmax’s “The Count,” Birx expressed her satisfaction with the open-mindedness exhibited during the hearings. She mentioned that both sides of the aisle are now considering the possibility that the virus could have originated from a lab, emphasizing the importance of implementing regulations for working with animal viruses in laboratories to prevent accidents.

Despite a year-long investigation by a GOP-led subcommittee into the nation’s response to the pandemic, no evidence linking Dr. Anthony Fauci to any wrongdoing has been found. Fauci, who played a prominent role in the early COVID-19 response, has faced intense scrutiny and harassment, even receiving death threats.

While many scientists believe the virus likely originated in nature, some theories suggest a lab leak. However, there is no conclusive evidence supporting this claim. An intelligence analysis states insufficient evidence to prove either theory, and the Chinese government’s actions in the early stages of the outbreak have raised further questions.

Birx hopes that the federal government can learn from successful state responses to the pandemic, such as Gov. Pete Ricketts’ program in Nebraska and Iowa’s approach to reopening schools. She believes that these real-life examples can inform future pandemic responses and lead to better outcomes.
