Vandalism at US Consulate in Sydney: Sledge Hammer Used, Hamas Symbol Painted

The individual was wearing a dark coloured hoodie with their face hidden, as shown in police CCTV footage.

An individual wearing a dark hoodie and carrying a sledgehammer allegedly attacked the U.S. Consulate in Sydney.

Inverted red triangles, symbolizing military targets in the Middle East conflict, were graffitied on the building’s door.

New South Wales (NSW) Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

The incident occurred in North Sydney in the early hours of June 10, where windows were damaged with a hammer.

Graffiti painted on the door was observed by NSW Police, and the suspect was seen wearing a dark hoodie with their face covered.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese emphasized the need for respectful debate in Australia in response to the attack.

NSW Premier Chris Minns condemned the attack as “reprehensible” and called for peaceful expressions of disagreement.

Liberal Senator Sarah Henderson vowed to combat antisemitism in Australia following a graffiti incident at a Melbourne school.

Police previously responded to a similar incident at the Sydney U.S. Consulate in April.

The vandalism followed conflict in the Middle East and has sparked condemnation from various politicians against violent protests.
