Latest Polling Data Reveals Biden’s Approval Rating Drops to 37.4%

President Joe Biden’s approval rating has reached an all-time low of 37.4%, with disapproval at 56.6%, according to tracker and opinion poll analyzer Five Thirty Eight.

This drop in approval comes amidst dwindling support among nonwhite voters and criticism from progressives regarding the White House’s handling of the situation in Gaza following Hamas’ attack on Oct. 7, as reported by Business Insider here.

Biden’s approval ratings started to decline after the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan and have not seen any improvement since.

On Aug. 15, 2021, when the Taliban swiftly took control of Kabul following the U.S. forces’ departure, Biden’s approval rating stood at 49% according to Gallup. Just a month later, it dropped to 43%.

Comparatively, former President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have slightly increased post his term in office, following the Capitol riot incident.

As per FiveThirtyEight’s weighted average, Trump currently holds a 41.6% approval rating and faces potential challenges after being the first former president to be convicted of a felony.

In 2016, Gallup identified Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as the least popular presidential candidates on record since 1956, as mentioned by Business Insider.

During Biden’s most recent quarter in office, which ended on April 18, he garnered the lowest approval rating in decades according to Gallup’s findings.

Four other modern presidents also had a below 50% average approval rating at this point in their presidency. Out of those, only President Barack Obama won reelection in November.

Trump, with an average Gallup rating of 46.8% at this time in 2020, lost to Biden in the November election.
