Bankruptcy Judge Considers Trustee for Giuliani’s Financial Affairs

Arguments were presented in Rudy Giuliani’s bankruptcy hearing on Monday as a judge considers the possibility of overseeing his finances and appointing a watchdog.

During the hearing in White Plains, New York, creditors accused Giuliani of various wrongdoings such as “dishonesty” and “gross incompetence,” as reported by Law & Crime reported.

U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Sean Lane did not make a decision before adjourning the hearing, but expressed concerns about Giuliani’s financial situation, particularly his inability to retain a bookkeeper or accountant, which he deemed a “troubling fact.”

The hearing followed Giuliani’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in December following a $148 million defamation lawsuit judgment. Creditors are seeking the appointment of a trustee to oversee Giuliani’s finances, alleging mismanagement and fraudulent activities.

Giuliani’s attorney argued for the ability to appeal the judgment while creditors’ representatives accused him of financial misconduct and incompetence.

Giuliani’s next hearing is scheduled for July 10, with the former mayor attending via Zoom.
