US Urges CCP to Allow Independent Investigation into ‘Depraved’ Organ Harvesting

The State Department has urged Beijing to stop its inhumane treatment of prisoners of conscience.

The State Department specifically called on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to immediately halt the “depraved” act of forced organ harvesting, highlighting it as a severe human rights violation.

A State Department representative, speaking to NTD, expressed concern that Chinese authorities may be involved in extracting organs from non-consenting donors, including prisoners of conscience like Falun Gong practitioners and Uyghur Muslims.

The representative emphasized that if these allegations are substantiated, it would represent a grave breach of human rights and a highly unethical medical practice.

Beijing was strongly urged to allow independent and transparent investigations into its organ transplantation system and to welcome external observers to validate the reports.

This statement comes following the passing of the Falun Gong Protection Act by the House, which aims to end the persecution of Falun Gong adherents, specifically targeting the harvesting of organs from detained individuals.

Since the initial reports in 2006, additional evidence exposing these abuses in China has come to light.

A former Chinese doctor publicly recounted an incident involving organ extraction and highlighted the severe maltreatment of Falun Gong practitioners.
The China Tribunal’s findings confirm that forced organ harvesting, particularly targeting Falun Gong members, continues to occur on a large scale in China.

The State Department’s official statement emphasizes the need for China to respect human rights, adhere to ethical medical standards, and prioritize patient well-being in its medical practices.

The department pointed to various reports highlighting ongoing forced organ harvesting practices in China, calling for global action to address this issue.

Leading lawmakers have shown strong bipartisan support for legislation aimed at curbing illicit organ trafficking and sending a clear message of condemnation to the CCP.

Lawmakers stressed the urgency of ending the persecution of Falun Gong and other targeted groups in China, reflecting a united front against these human rights abuses.

Contributions to this report were made by NTD’s Jack Bradley and Steve Lance.
