Travis Kelce reveals how he came up with the idea to join Taylor Swift on stage and shares her reaction | Entertainment & Arts Update
Travis Kelce has disclosed that his surprise appearance at Taylor Swift’s London show was his own idea.
The 34-year-old American football star joined his girlfriend onstage for the first time at the Eras Tour concert at Wembley Stadium.
Discussing the origin of the skit on his podcast New Heights, Kelce informed his brother and co-host Jason: “I initially mentioned it to Tay”.
“I was like, ‘How funny would it be if I just rolled out on one of the bikes during the 1989 era’.”
Swift initially laughed, he said – before asking, “Would you seriously be up for doing something like that?”.
Kelce said: “I was just like, ‘What? I would love to do that, are you kidding me? I’ve seen the show enough – might as well put me to work here.”
He appeared on stage dressed in a tuxedo and top hat, performing a few dance moves before carrying Swift – who appeared to faint – to a sofa.
He described that as the most nervewracking part of the performance.
“The one thing I told myself is ‘do not drop the baby’. Do not drop Taylor on your way over this couch.”
The star then changed into a two-piece sequin costume – while Kelce pretended to touch up her makeup – and performed “I Can Do It With A Broken Heart” from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Kelce expressed that it was “an absolute blast” and an “honour” to share the stage with Swift.
“It’s such a fun, playful part of the show.
“I didn’t disappoint Taylor, so that’s all that really matters,” he added.
Kelce also had the chance to meet Prince William, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte at one of the Wembley shows.
A picture of the group was shared on Instagram on 21 June, the same day as William’s 42nd birthday.
On a previous episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce mentioned that the Prince of Wales “was the coolest m*****f*****”.
“They were an absolute delight to me, I wasn’t sure if I was supposed to bow to them or curtsy, or just be an American idiot and shake their hand.”
