Iran is financing US protests, yet Biden refuses to acknowledge Tehran as an enemy
Iran is increasing anti-Israel protests in America, as Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines confirmed on Tuesday. Haines stated that “Iranian government actors have sought to opportunistically take advantage of ongoing protests regarding the war in Gaza, using a playbook we’ve seen other actors use.”
Individuals connected to Iran’s government are pretending to be activists online, encouraging protests, and even providing financial support to protesters. This includes funding “pro-Palestine” demonstrations.
Most protesters may not realize they are being manipulated by Iran’s government to create discord and undermine confidence in democratic institutions as the US approaches elections.
Additionally, Iran aims to weaken US support for Israel, which has led President Biden to express sympathy for protesters and criticize Israeli actions, even slowing the supply of arms to Israel.
Iran’s shadow war is seen in its proxies’ actions on the ground, including attacks on US bases in the Middle East. Despite these actions, President Biden’s administration continues to believe that Iran can have a positive role in the region.
The administration has taken steps to protect Iran, such as not allowing Israel to retaliate after Iran’s missile and drone attacks, and rolling back sanctions on Iran to allow funding for terror activities.
It is unclear if President Biden has been informed of these actions by his director of national intelligence, as his administration seems reluctant to acknowledge Iran as an enemy. The question remains: what will it take for the Biden administration to recognize Iran as the enemy it truly is?
