Florida judge dismisses case involving classified documents against Trump



A judge in Florida has thrown out the criminal case involving classified documents that were discovered at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.

Mr Trump had been accused of unlawfully possessing classified documents.

This marks another significant legal win for the former president as he looks to make a return to the White House.

US District Judge Aileen Cannon, based in Florida and nominated by Mr Trump, ruled that Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was leading the prosecution, was not properly appointed to his position and did not have the authority to pursue the case.
