Tesla founder Elon Musk has announced he plans to donate $45 million per month to a super political-action committee backing the former president.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the America PAC includes Palantir Technologies co-founder Joe Lonsdale, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and former U.S. ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft and her husband, Joe, the chief executive of coal producer Alliance Resource Partners, The Wall Street Journal reported.
The America PAC was founded in June with a strategic focus on increasing voter registration and encouraging early voting and mail-in ballots in key swing states.
According to Musk, who is currently the wealthiest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $251 billion, he plans to make substantial $45 million donations to the Super PAC each month leading up to the election.
Meanwhile, a filing on Monday revealed that America PAC had $8.75 million in contributions for the three-month period ending on June 30th, The Wall Street Journal reported. Musk has also stated that he plans to begin his contributions this month.
Musk reportedly made a donation to the super PAC last week, according to Bloomberg News, although the size of the donation remains unknown.
In March, Musk claimed that he would not be donating to the Trump or Biden campaigns, but now Musk has thrown support behind the 45th president and announced his full endorsement following the failed assassination attempt on Trump’s life. The event took place at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania over the weekend.
“I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery,” Musk wrote on X, adding in a subsequent post: “Last time America had a candidate this tough was Theodore Roosevelt.”
The Tesla founder also donated $100,000 to a GoFundMe page authorized by Trump to help the victims of the tragic shooting and their families.
Former fire chief Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed in the crosshairs of the attack as he protected his wife and two daughters. David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, also sustained critical injuries, but are now listed as “stable.” All three men are Pennsylvania natives.
