Criticism of Ingrid Andress’ National Anthem Performance at MLB Home Run Derby Receives Backlash – One America News Network

Some are calling the national anthem before the 2024 Home Run Derby possibly the worst performance of all-time.

Major league Baseball (MLB) wanted the national anthem to leave an impression on fans and viewers but they were given one they may have not wanted.
Following a high-energy and entertaining introduction of the eight Home Run Derby contestants by actor/comedian Marcello Hernández of “Saturday Night Live” fame, country music star Ingrid Andress sang the national anthem.
However, Andress’ performance of the longtime tradition ahead of the Home Run Derby drew tremendous criticism at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
“New awful national anthem just dropped,” posted one user on X.
“The worst National Anthem I’ve ever heard,” added another.
The 32-year-old is a four-time Grammy Award nominee, and now put herself in the category for one of the all-time bad performances.
“I’m a risk-taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone,” she said. “I love this country and honestly tried my best.”
According to her Instagram, Andress stated she was drunk during the performance and has now checked herself into rehab.
Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez won the Home Run Derby, besting Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. 14-13, in the final round of the mid-summer classic.
