Governors Report Factory Fire and Injuries Caused by Ukrainian Attacks in Russian Border Regions

Overnight Ukrainian attacks sparked a fire at a factory producing electrical devices in Russian areas bordering Ukraine, injuring at least six people, as reported by local governors on Tuesday.

A drone strike on a factory in the town of Korenevo in Russia’s Kursk region caused the fire, which was extinguished by morning with no casualties. Another person was injured in a drone attack dropping an explosive device on a house elsewhere in the region, interim governor Alexei Smirnov stated.

Images shared on his Telegram channel depicted the factory’s roof in flames against the night sky, with the interior reduced to charred debris.

There was no immediate response from Ukrainian authorities regarding the reported attacks, which Reuters could not confirm independently.

Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed that air defense systems had taken out 13 Ukrainian drones overnight, including one over the Kursk region.

Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia’s Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border, mentioned that four people were injured due to Ukrainian shelling. In the Voronezh region, one person sustained injuries in a drone strike, said local governor Alexander Gusev.

Russia’s Kommersant daily newspaper reported on Tuesday that authorities were contemplating evacuating residents from 14 villages in the Belgorod region, often targeted in Ukrainian attacks.
