Kim Cheatle: Don’t attribute shooting incident to Trump or a ‘sloped roof’

Do not worry, America: The Secret Service is here to keep the commander-in-chief safe, unless, of course, a sloped roof gets in the way.

That was the insane excuse that USSS Director Kimberly Cheatle offered up Tuesday for Saturday’s catastrophic failure.

“That building in particular has a sloped roof at its highest point. And so, you know, there’s a safety factor that would be considered there that we wouldn’t want to put somebody up on a sloped roof,” said Cheatle on ABC of the perch Thomas Matthew Crooks used to nearly kill Donald Trump.

The Service knew the roof was a security weakness, she admitted, what with its short, clear line of sight to Trump — but that terrifying sloped roof kept their agents off it all the same.

We wish this were an episode of “Veep” or some other dark satire, but it’s the ugly reality under Biden.

High officials tasked with keeping the president from being killed are very clearly out of their depth (and in Cheatle’s case seemingly more concerned with pushing DEI nonsense than actually doing their jobs).

The failure is all the more glaring since Trump’s security had already been ramped up over intel suggesting Iran may make an attempt on his life.

Which means that, even amid conditions of the highest possible alert — a massive public rally under an already-registered assassination threat — an untrained kid was able to slip through the protective net around Trump and almost kill him.

No wonder DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has “100% confidence” in Secret Service leadership: It’s “open borders,” except for protecting the life of the president.

At the June 27 presidential debate, Trump slammed President Biden over Afghanistan, the border and other national-security incompetence by saying “This guy hasn’t fired anybody” involved with the White House’s various disasters.

WithCheatle brazenly refusing to quit, the only question is: Is Joe too old to even change that spot?
