Shogun and The Bear Dominate Emmy Nominations among UK Shows, Crown and Baby Reindeer Recognized | Entertainment & Arts News
Leading the nominations at this year’s Emmy Awards is the historical drama Shogun, with The Crown and Baby Reindeer also receiving top honors among British entries.
Shogun, a tale of power struggles in feudal Japan, secured 25 nominations, followed by the comedy The Bear with a record-breaking 23 nominations.
Netflix emerged as the top network with 107 nominations, including 18 for The Crown and 11 for Baby Reindeer.
The final season of the royal drama, which aired in two parts in November and December last year, portrayed the events following Princess Diana’s death. Dame Imelda Staunton and Dominic West starred as Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles, respectively, earning nods for their performances.

Richard Gadd, the writer of Baby Reindeer, received nominations for outstanding lead actor in a limited series category for his role as Donny, as well as for outstanding writing. The series, inspired by Gadd’s real-life experiences, follows a man stalked by a woman named Martha Scott.

After the series’ release, Fiona Harvey claimed to be the inspiration for the character Martha, leading to a lawsuit against Netflix for defamation, emotional distress, negligence, and violations of her right of publicity.
Idris Elba and Gary Oldman received nominations in various acting categories, as did Naomi Watts and Matt Berry for their roles in different series.
The 76th Emmy awards ceremony is set to take place on 15 September at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.
