CrowdStrike identifies source of IT outage and deploys fix, US News reports
The head of US cybersecurity company CrowdStrike has announced that the source of the global IT outage has been “identified” and a “fix deployed”.
Various industries such as banks, airlines, train companies, telecommunications companies, broadcasters, and supermarkets have been affected.
CrowdStrike CEO George Kurtz clarified that the issue is not a security incident or cyberattack, but a defect in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted by this issue.

“The issue has been identified, isolated, and a fix has been deployed,” stated Mr. Kurtz.
Customers can expect complete and continuous updates on the CrowdStrike website and are encouraged to check the support portal for the latest information.
According to an alert sent by CrowdStrike to its clients and seen by Reuters, Crowdstrike’s “Falcon Sensor” software is reportedly causing Windows to crash and display a blue screen.
The alert, issued at 0530 GMT on Friday, included a manual workaround to address the issue.
