Fatal Military Aircraft Crash Claims the Lives of Two Individuals in Armenia
In YEREVAN, Armenia, a small Armenian air force training plane crashed on Friday, resulting in the tragic deaths of its two-member crew, according to officials.
Reports indicate that the Soviet-made Yak-52 aircraft went down 20 kilometers (about 12 miles) north of Yerevan, which is not only Armenia’s largest city but also its capital.
It was revealed that the plane was on a training flight at the time of the accident, and the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Yakovlev Yak-52, a Soviet-designed single-engine two-seat primary trainer aircraft from the 1970s, has continued to serve in various countries across the globe.
Initially, Armenian authorities mistakenly identified the crashed aircraft as an Antonov An-2, a Soviet-designed single-engine biplane capable of accommodating up to 12 passengers.
