Team USA at the Paris Olympics deserves the unified support of all Americans
Prepare for the familiar chants of “USA! USA! USA!” that are sure to lift spirits, with no political agenda attached.
Americans will have a reason to come together and feel inspired as we support Team USA at the 2024 Olympics for the next two weeks.
Across the globe, the Paris Olympics starting this Friday mark a return to normalcy after the disruptions caused by the pandemic during the 2020 Summer Games in Tokyo.
A sense of normalcy is much needed in America right now, especially after recent events like the attempted Trump assassination, the cyber disaster last Friday, and the controversies surrounding President Biden.
The opening ceremony on Friday will showcase international athletes sailing down the Seine river, with the stunning backdrop of the Eiffel Tower and other iconic landmarks.
Four-time NBA champion LeBron James alongside either Katie Ledecky or Simone Biles will lead the nearly 600 American athletes as flag bearers during the opening ceremony.
James is part of the star-studded Team USA basketball team; Biles will be adding to her collection of gymnastics medals (four gold) from her previous Olympics; Ledecky, on the other hand, has earned seven swimming gold medals across three Summer Games.
Other notable stars to watch out for include runners like New Jersey’s Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Noah Lyles.
A hometown connection: Breaking, also known as breakdancing or b-boying, originated in The Bronx in the ‘70s and will be making its first appearance as a dance sport at the Olympics in Paris.
Let’s join together in cheering for the red, white, and blue on the global stage. USA! USA! USA!
