Evan Gershkovich, WSJ Reporter, Returns Home and Celebrates Freedom: A Message from Evan

The Release of Wall Street Journal’s Evan Gershkovich and Others from Russian Custody

Recently, Wall Street Journal journalist Gershkovich, former Marine Paul Whelan, and others were freed from Russian custody. I am happy to see them released, as every American should be. It is slightly puzzling, given recent calls for President Biden to step down, that this release happened at such a politically convenient time.

It’s interesting that right before the 2024 presidential election, Gershkovich and Whelan were released by the Democratic regime from Russian custody. Was it really necessary for them to be held for this long before being released? This seems like a move to attract votes for the Democrats.

Thankfully, Gershkovich has been released from Russian custody, where he was wrongfully charged with being an American spy. It’s a relief to see him reunited with his family and enjoying his freedom again.

We should all cherish freedom, as Gershkovich and Whelan have both experienced being held in Russian captivity for extended periods. It’s a reminder that Americans face risks when traveling to hostile countries and should exercise caution.

Following the recent hostage releases, thoughts of Russian election collusion come to mind. The sudden release and lack of transparency from the Biden administration fuel this theory. It’s not surprising that Russia would prefer dealing with Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump.

I’m thrilled that Americans Whelan and Gershkovich were released from Russian custody in a prisoner swap. However, the discrepancies in their treatment compared to others raise questions about political motivations and priorities.

President Biden successfully secured a prisoner exchange for the release of several Americans from Putin’s custody, including Gershkovich, who was unfairly sentenced to prison. Hopefully, attention can now shift to Americans held hostage by Hamas since 2023.
