JD Vance engages in a heated confrontation with Harris on the airport tarmac, sparks fly in a series of letters

The Issue: Sen. JD Vance confronting the Harris-Walz campaign on a Wisconsin tarmac.

No sooner had I read The Post’s cover story on JD Vance’s remarkable confrontation with Vice President Kamala Harris at a Wisconsin airport, then I started reading the same story covered in other “mainstream” media outlets (“Vance’s wing zing at Kam,” Aug. 8).

And there it was: A national wire service had provided a photo and copy of JD Vance’s campaign jet parked near Air Force Two, while omitting the narrative of that confrontation, depriving unsuspecting Democrats and Republicans of the knowledge that Harris has gone weeks without taking a question from the press — a move that is right out of President Biden’s playbook.

Vance’s confrontation was chutzpah at its best. An offensive showdown is the only way to call out dismissive leaders who somehow think they don’t have to answer to the public.

Let it be known that walking away and ignoring questions no longer works. Perhaps more embarrassing confrontations such as this will bring voting Americans to their senses.

It is no surprise that Harris and Gov. Tim Walz are receiving a free pass from the press at this stage in the campaign.

It seems like the media are now running interference for the new ticket to prevent any type of scrutiny that might prevent Harris and Walz from winning. Whatever happended to “democracy dies in darkness?”

Do Americans want a leader who sounds scripted and repetitive: someone who thinks they’re funny but isn’t? Well, that’s Kamala Harris for you.

At least JD Vance is open and transparent, as we saw this week.

The Issue: “Squad” member Rep. Cori Bush’s defeat in Missouri’s Democratic primary.

No one from the outside has radicalized Rep. Cori Bush, as she claims (“2nd ‘Squad’ squash,” Aug. 8).

But if there ever was a left-wing radical that deserved to be booted out of Congress, Bush fits the bill. As far as the cause for her loss in the Missouri primary, she can only blame herself. The woman is anti-Israel, anti-America and, in a sense, pro-Hamas.

Voting against banning the terrorists responsible for the Oct. 7 attack against Israel from entering the United States illustrated Bush’s true colors. Given her extreme ideology, she is a threat to American values. Next on the chopping block: Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

How utterly disgraceful for an elected official to behave the way Cori Bush did regarding her re-election defeat.

To hear the way she ranted with hate was sad. Her loss was all on her. Her anti-Israel stance was heard loud and clear and the people reacted.

To think that this is who is representing our country is unbelievable.

Bush wasn’t prepared to look in the mirror and see the reason for her failings: her politics.
