Stores are re-stocking Silk Plant-Based Beverages after Listeria scare
Silk plant-based milk products that were part of a national recall are slowly reappearing on store shelves after a listeria outbreak.
The production line at the Pickering, Ont., factory, where listeria contamination was found, remains shut down and under inspection by Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) authorities. Other facilities are increasing production to restock shelves, according to Danone Canada, the manufacturer of Silk.
Danone stated in an email on Aug. 19 that they have increased production of Silk refrigerated products in different facilities, and products affected by the recall are gradually returning to shelves.
The recalled Silk products include almond milk, coconut milk, almond-coconut milk, and oat milk with best before dates up to and including Oct. 4.
To reassure customers of product safety, Danone has intensified testing in all Silk refrigerated beverage production and warehousing facilities. They are also implementing enhanced testing protocols for all production lines.
