Manitoba RCMP Confirm Man Fatally Wounded Three Relatives of Former Partner in Act of Intimate Partner Violence

The RCMP says the murder of three adults in a Manitoba community was an act of intimate family violence.

Police said that Marlon Glover, 41, killed three members of his former partner’s family on Aug. 16. He then drove away from the home and killed himself, an Aug. 21 RMCP news release said.

Mounties said Glover was served with a production order on Nov. 24, 2023, and two firearms were seized.

“These items were not returned prior to the homicides and remain in the RCMP’s custody,” Staff Sgt. Richard Sherring said at an Aug. 21 RCMP news conference.

“We’re also aware that a firearm was used in this senseless act of violence. This is an aspect that still remains under investigation.”

Previous calls for service had been made by Glover’s former partner, a 37-year-old woman, police said at the conference. However, they were not aware of how many times she called for help.

“The police did respond and dealt with those calls for service appropriately,” Sherring said.

Investigators say the incident happened around 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 16 when Glover forcibly entered the home of his former partner.

“The 37-year-old female was eventually able to escape and hid in a nearby wooded area,” Sherring said.

Glover left her home and went to a nearby residence where he killed a 66-year-old woman, a 65-year-old man, and a 35-year-old man, RCMP said. Police said they died from gunshot wounds. These were the parents and brother of Glover’s former partner.

Investigators say Glover then drove away from the home, stopped on the side of the road 84 West, and shot himself.

Police say they were notified around 10:10 a.m. about Glover’s body on 84 West near McCreary.

Thirty minutes later, while officers were on the scene, there was a call requesting a check on the well-being of the 37-year-old woman.

“Officers attended her residence and were unable to locate her. This led the officers to a nearby residence where they found the bodies of the three victims,” Sherring said.

The woman was found safe around 12:40 p.m. and was taken to hospital as a precaution, the news release said.

“The survivor and family is going through an unimaginable loss and has asked everybody to respect their privacy,” Sherring said at the conference.

RCMP noted this incident comes just over six months after five individuals, including three children, were also killed by intimate partner violence.

Officials said the bodies were found in three locations across southern Manitoba on Feb. 11.

Ryan Howard Manoakeesick, 29, has been charged in the death of his common-law spouse, their three children, and another family member.
