Italian Coast Guard announces discovery of final body from sunken superyacht near Sicily
PORTICELLO, Sicily—The Italian Coast Guard announced that the last missing individual from the superyacht that sank off the coast of Sicily has been found in the wreckage.
The unidentified woman’s body was discovered on Friday. Reports indicate that Hannah Lynch, the 18-year-old daughter of British technology mogul Mike Lynch, is still missing. The Lynch family was on board The Bayesian, a 56-meter British-flagged yacht, when it sank during a storm early Monday.
Civil protection authorities believe the vessel was hit by a waterspout, a type of tornado over the water, causing it to sink rapidly.
Mike Lynch’s body was retrieved on Thursday. He was celebrating his recent acquittal on fraud charges with his family and supporters who had defended him in a United States trial.
His wife Angela Bacares was one of the 15 survivors.
