It is time for Biden-Harris to be honest about the potential role of Iran in campus unrest

As the fall term begins, students are returning to college, bringing with them the potential for pro-Hamas protests and antisemitic offenses.

To prevent a repeat of the disruptive agitations seen last spring, it’s important for our leaders to investigate the role Iran, a malign foreign actor, plays behind the scenes.

In addition to Iran, other countries like China and Cuba are also likely to be involved in facilitating these protests.

Considering who benefits the most from disrupting US society and fueling antisemitism, it’s clear that Iran, with its radical theocracy, stands to gain the most.

Warnings have been issued by the White House about Iran’s involvement in instigating protests and influencing American society.

Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines released a statement in July highlighting Iran’s efforts to take advantage of ongoing protests in Gaza.

Iran’s tactics include posing as activists online, encouraging protests, and providing financial support to protesters, as stated by Haines.

White House spokesman John Kirby acknowledged Iran’s funding and encouragement of protest activity in the United States.

The administration needs to take Iran’s interference seriously, especially with upcoming elections and potential security threats posed by Iranian actors.

Congress should investigate and expose Iran’s schemes, ensuring that American students are not unknowingly manipulated by foreign governments.

As college classes resume, it’s essential for leaders to address the threat posed by Iran and work towards unity instead of division.
