Calgary Airport Estimates Hail Damage Repairs Will Take Minimum of 18 Months
The Calgary Airport Authority has announced that it will take at least eighteen months to repair the damage caused by hail to part of its domestic terminal earlier this month.
Concourse B will be closed during the restoration work.
The exact cost of the repairs is unknown at this time, according to the airport authority.
On August 5, a section of north Calgary experienced heavy hail, resulting in damage to car windows and homes.
Chris Miles, the chief operating officer of the airport authority, explained that golf ball-sized hail penetrated the terminal roof membrane, leading to incoming heavy rain.
Despite the closure of Concourse B, the airport authority assures that other areas of the terminal are functioning normally and there should be no disruption to operations.
