CNN: Kamala Harris faced more than just Tim Walz in latest interview

When it comes to television, the first thing that captures your attention is what you see, not what you hear.

This concept is known as optics, and in a recent CNN interview featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and running-mate Tim Walz, my initial observation was how diminutive Harris seemed.

Walz clearly overshadowed her.

When vying for the presidency, it is crucial to avoid projecting a small image.

The camera angle was unfavorable; and why was Harris seated behind a table, giving off the impression of a customer awaiting service at a restaurant?

Dana Bash posed rather gentle questions, offered minimal follow-ups, and allowed Harris to evade key questions regarding the border and the economy, which are significant issues in the race.

Harris asserted, “I haven’t changed my values.”

While that may be true, she has certainly adjusted her stances to appeal to independent voters, essential to winning swing states.

It is acceptable for individuals to alter their views if the change is genuine (such as due to new evidence) rather than politically motivated.

Observers suggesting that she is “moving towards the middle” imply that she is pragmatically shifting positions to garner votes, not out of deep conviction.

If Harris can modify her positions on issues important to voters, who is to say she won’t do so again if she assumes the presidency?

This is the same path Joe Biden took—projecting a centrist image but governing as a left-leaning politician, aligning with many of Bernie Sanders’ policies.

Bash allowed Harris to dodge the major question: Was she complicit in concealing Biden’s cognitive decline?

Until recently, she, like most other Democrats, maintained in public that the president was mentally sharp, in command, and well-informed.

The photos and Biden’s disastrous debate with Donald Trump do not deceive.

Few bought into the jet lag and “I have a cold” excuses.

During the interview, Harris tried to claim that “Bidenomics” has been successful, while acknowledging that prices remain high (no mention of her recent pledge to implement price controls on food and housing), and she was permitted to assert that inflation is now below 3%.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, inflation spiked to over 9%, and although the rate has dipped, prices for nearly everything remain stubbornly high.

Harris advocates for a $6,000 tax credit per newborn to assist with child care.

My own parents provided child care.

They looked after me and didn’t send me off to a day care center. The same goes for my kids.

No questions were raised about the national debt, which would escalate with Harris’ proposals.

No country has ever been able to sustain itself with such debt and an open border.

Harris vaguely promised to enforce new border laws, but failed to explain why she and Biden are not upholding existing laws.

Neither was she pressed on this topic.

Regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict, Harris defaulted to the problematic “two-state solution” that multiple administrations have pursued, yet it is ineffective due to religious extremism driving Israel’s enemies.

These adversaries believe they are duty-bound to obliterate the Jewish state and exterminate Jews.

No inquiries were made about China, Russia, or Ukraine.

Bash neglected to question Harris about her proposed tax hikes, or why government expenditures are never reduced, even on outdated or failed programs.

As Ronald Reagan once said, “The closest thing to eternal life on Earth is a government program.”

Harris could be an easy target for Trump during their upcoming debate on Sept. 10, provided he maintains focus on the issues and the Biden-Harris administration’s track record.

This may pose a challenge, given Trump’s self-centered tendencies and abrasive personality.
