Starlink agrees to adhere to Brazil’s directive to cease operations of X.

Starlink has stated that it will comply with Brazil’s Supreme Court order to block X, while also pursuing legal action against the ruling.

Elon Musk’s internet service, Starlink, has announced its compliance with a Brazil Supreme Court order to shut down X. However, Starlink reaffirmed its commitment to exploring “all legal avenues” to allow the recently banned Musk-owned social media platform to continue operating in Brazil.

The decision was made public by Starlink in a statement on Sept. 3, marking a change after the country’s telecommunications regulator initially stated that the satellite-based internet provider had refused to block the social media platform.

Starlink has agreed to abide by an order from Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes instructing internet service providers and app stores to block X from their platforms.

“Despite the unjust treatment of Starlink in freezing our assets, we are following the order to block access to X in Brazil,” Starlink’s statement revealed. “We are actively pursuing legal options, as are others who believe that @alexandre’s recent orders go against the Brazilian constitution.”

De Moraes froze Starlink’s accounts in an effort to force the company to cover fines imposed on X in Brazil, arguing that both are part of the same Musk-controlled group.

Responding to the asset freeze, Starlink stated on Aug. 29 that it believed de Moraes’s decision was unconstitutional and violated due process.

“The order was issued secretly and without affording Starlink the due process of law guaranteed by the Constitution of Brazil,” Starlink stated. “We will address the matter legally.”

Starlink’s decision to comply with the order to shut down X comes following a statement from a spokesperson of Brazil’s telecommunications regulator who informed The Epoch Times that the company had informally expressed to a top agency executive its intention to defy the ban on X.
