Sean “Diddy” Combs, a rapper turned music mogul, has reportedly been taken into custody, as stated by the US attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY).
The attorney, Damian Williams, announced, “Earlier this evening, federal agents apprehended Sean Combs, based on a sealed indictment from the SDNY. We anticipate revealing the details of the indictment tomorrow and will provide further information at that time.”
Diddy’s lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, responded by saying: “We are disheartened by the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the US Attorney’s Office.
“Diddy may not be perfect, but he is not a criminal. He has been fully cooperative with the investigation and voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these accusations. We urge you to withhold judgment until all the facts are known.
“These actions demonstrate the innocence of a man with nothing to hide, and he is eager to clear his name in court,” Agnifilo affirmed.
The specific charges for which he was arrested are not immediately clear, but they come amid a series of lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct against him and an ongoing federal inquiry.
The federal investigation was brought to light in March when authorities executed search warrants at his properties in Los Angeles and Miami.
Investigators have spoken to various individuals regarding allegations of sex trafficking, sexual misconduct, and the solicitation and distribution of illegal substances and firearms.
The warrant for searching Combs’ properties was issued by the Southern District of New York.
