NASA Delays Crew-9 Mission Launch to Saturday
NASA announced on Tuesday that the launch of its Crew-9 mission with SpaceX has been rescheduled to Sept. 28 due to Tropical Storm Helene.
The upcoming Crew Dragon mission by SpaceX, known as Crew-9, will transport three NASA astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut to the International Space Station.
Tropical Storm Helene is currently affecting the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to bring high winds and heavy rain to the Cape Canaveral region in Florida, where the launch is planned to take place.
The initial launch date for the Crew-9 mission was set for Aug. 18, but it was postponed by a month in order to address issues with Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft, which is currently docked at the station.
NASA astronaut Nick Hague and Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov are scheduled to launch on the Dragon spacecraft to the ISS, marking the ninth crew rotation mission with SpaceX under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.
