During a campaign event in Detroit, Michigan, Donald Trump’s microphone unexpectedly cut out for almost 20 minutes, causing visible frustration for the Republican presidential candidate.
With the US election just over two weeks away on 5 November, the 78-year-old was expressing his admiration for the key battleground state when the technical glitch occurred.

During the period of silence, the crowd showed support for the former president by chanting “USA” and “We love Trump”.
At one point, Mr Trump attempted to use a different microphone but still could not be heard.
It took nearly 20 minutes for aides to replace the Republican nominee’s microphone.
Once his microphone was fixed, he immediately declared that he would not pay the “stupid company” responsible for the malfunctioning equipment.
Prior to his microphone issues, Mr Trump had told the audience that if he were to win the election, by the end of his term “the entire world will be talking about the Michigan miracle and the stunning rebirth of Detroit”.
He also criticized “[vice president Harris] Kamala and the Democrats for causing trouble in the area” and pledged to “restore it to a better state than it has ever been”.
