Trump stated that Warrington will serve as both the president’s aide and chief legal advisor in the White House.
Warrington has represented multiple candidates, committees, advocacy groups, and associations before courts and regulatory agencies, including the Federal Election Commission, focusing on First Amendment rights.
Having worked as the general counsel for the Ron Paul 2012 presidential campaign and as lead attorney for the Trump campaign’s Rules, Platform, and Credentials committee during the RNC Convention in Cleveland in 2016, he has substantial experience with various presidential campaigns. He has also represented state and local officials, as well as Congressional members, and national and state political party organizations.
In a notable 2016 federal court case, Warrington successfully upheld the Virginia Republican Party’s right to establish its own rules for selecting delegates for the National Convention.
“Dave has been an outstanding representation as my personal lawyer and served competently as General Counsel for my Presidential Campaign,” Trump remarked in a statement.
William McGinley, who was appointed as White House counsel by Trump in mid-November, will now transition into a new role as counsel for the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE). This initiative, led by Vivek Ramaswamy and Elon Musk, aims to mitigate government waste, excessive regulation, and overspending.
“Bill will be pivotal in freeing our Economy from excessive Regulations, needless spending, and Government inefficiency,” Trump stated. “He will collaborate with the White House and the Office of Management and Budget to advise on eliminating the bloated Federal Bureaucracy.”
