Children’s Minister Resigns from Position After Being Diagnosed with Colorectal Cancer
British Columbia’s Minister of Children and Family Development Grace Lore has revealed that she has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer and will be taking a temporary leave of absence from her ministerial duties.
In a statement, Lore mentioned her plan to participate in crucial parliamentary votes to support the stability of the NDP government, which currently holds a narrow one-vote majority in the legislature.
Lore, who represents the Victoria-Beacon Hill constituency, described her cancer diagnosis as sudden and is currently working with medical professionals to address it promptly.
She emphasized the need for the ministry to have someone’s undivided attention, and by stepping back, she can focus on her treatment, recovery, and eventual return to work.
Lore expressed her determination to overcome the cancer and return to full health.
Premier David Eby’s government controls 47 seats in the legislature, while the Conservatives and Greens hold 44 and two seats, respectively.
