Education Department to Investigate Toxic Climate in Three Montreal Schools
Education Department audits have revealed multiple issues related to a toxic climate at three French-language Montreal schools.
Education Minister Bernard Drainville stated that the audits raised concerns about the quality of educational services and possible safety risks to students’ physical or psychological well-being.
The audits were conducted at La Voie, Bienville, and Saint-Pascal-Babylon schools following similar allegations at Bedford School, where 11 teachers were suspended.
While detailed audit findings remain confidential, Drainville emphasized the need for a comprehensive investigation due to the alarming nature of the allegations.
Quebec has initiated audits at 17 schools amid worries about the secular nature of public schools not being upheld, with a report anticipated in January.
Drainville recently announced plans to introduce a bill reinforcing secularism in schools.
