An FBI informant has pled guilty to four federal offenses on Thursday for falsifying information related to a $10 million bribe allegedly paid by a Ukrainian businessman to then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter, to “shield” his company from a corruption inquiry.

Alexander Smirnov, 43, has entered into a plea agreement with special counsel David Weiss and admitted to fabricating “a false and fictitious record” as part of an investigation into the Bidens.

The “false and fictitious record” created by Smirnov also encompasses three counts of tax evasion.

The falsehoods included claims of bribery, noted in an FBI FD-1023 form in 2020 and made public by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) last year, along with other elements of Hunter Biden’s role on the board of the Ukrainian gas firm Burisma.

Prosecutors are recommending a prison sentence ranging from 48 to 72 months, one year of supervised release, and approximately $675,000 in restitution, according to the documents.

Nonetheless, Smirnov could face a maximum of six years in prison, one year of supervised release, and is obligated to pay $675,502 in restitution, as per the plea deal submitted in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
