On Saturday, Penny was the personal guest of Vance, cheering for the match from the president-elect’s suite at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland.

Other notable attendees included Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth, Intelligence Director nominee Tulsi Gabbard, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Trump was seen beside Vance, waving at the enthusiastic crowd chanting “USA! USA!” and later saluting during the National Anthem. Meanwhile, Penny was situated nearby, enjoying a drink.

“Daniel’s a good guy, and New York’s mob district attorney tried to ruin his life for having a backbone,” Vance mentioned on X on Friday, referencing far-left Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. “I’m grateful he accepted my invitation and hope he enjoys the game, realizing how much his fellow citizens admire his bravery.”

Following an extensive trial regarding the encounter with Neely on an uptown F train in May 2023, jurors cleared Penny of the charge of criminally negligent homicide.

The decision was reached shortly after prosecutors dropped a more severe manslaughter charge due to the jury’s inability to come to a consensus.

Vance, along with various conservative politicians, has publicly lauded the ruling while criticizing Bragg for prosecuting Penny.

Conversely, numerous far-left politicians have condemned Neely’s death, labeling it an act of illegitimate vigilantism; state Senator Jabari Brisport (D-N.Y) referred to the incident as a “lynching,” while Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) claimed Neely was “murdered.”
