Florida Judge’s Son Charged with Assaulting Eye Doctor and Two Healthcare Workers – One America News Network

The son of a judge from Florida is accused of violently attacking an unsuspecting optometrist, knocking him out and assaulting two additional healthcare workers in jail.

Reports indicate that a financial consultant from New York allegedly forced his way into Dr. Ron Goldstein’s office, rendering him unconscious. He also assaulted two other staff members in jail, one of whom suffered a broken jaw.
Dr. Goldstein sustained a severe head injury that required eight stitches.
Despite the attack, the New York Police Department (NYPD) has not arrested the suspect, who is currently facing only a misdemeanor charge.
“I wish this individual would be charged with the severe crime he committed against me,” Goldstein expressed to The New York Post. “If someone attacks me, they should face the appropriate consequences.”
On October 17th, the suspect entered a room where Goldstein was examining a patient and struck him, leaving him unconscious for several minutes. Goldstein ended up with a large bump on his head and a cut caused by his eyeglasses breaking on his face.
“I never saw him come in,” Goldstein recounted. “I was focused on a retinal image with a patient in front of me when he hit me from behind. I only knew what happened because I saw the footage later.”
After the assault, the suspect was seen walking calmly down the street.
Goldstein’s daughter, Tai, shared photos taken by the office manager before the suspect left in a TikTok video, urging anyone who recognized him to reach out to her or the authorities.
“We cannot allow this abhorrent individual to walk the streets of New York without consequences,” she implored.
Within 24 hours, she received a significant response, leading to the identification of the suspect as Eric Moneyham, the son of a Florida workers’ compensation judge.
Office staff noted that Moneyham had visited their practice once previously for an eye exam.
Following the attack, he allegedly broke into a house in Wyckoff Township a few hours later.
A criminal complaint charging him with burglary and harassment mentioned a threatening message he posted on LinkedIn, stating, “I’d hit you in the head so hard you’d hit the concrete and be leaking blood.”
Moneyham is currently held at Bergen County Jail. During a medical evaluation at the facility, he “sucker punched” a staff member, knocking him down and then hitting him over 40 times, resulting in a broken jaw and nose.
Records indicate that he expressed anger towards “all child molesters and others he believed had molested him in the past.”
Five days later, he reportedly struck a female doctor in the face, resulting in additional aggravated assault charges.
Meanwhile, the NYPD has not placed a detainer on Moneyham, calling him a “person of interest,” as they work to bring him back to New York City for arrest linked to the Goldstein attack, which was initially categorized as a felony but later downgraded to a misdemeanor.
Retired NYPD Lt. John Macari criticized the change in charges.
“There was clear intent to cause significant physical harm, and substantial injury did occur. This is a straightforward felony assault, and an inquiry should be conducted regarding why it was downgraded,” Macari stated to The Post.
“It seems like a downgrade driven by high-ranking officials aiming to keep crime statistics low,” Macari continued, referring to Mayor Adams’ claim that NYC is the safest large city in America. “It’s about managing perception.”
Defense attorney Frank Carbonetti mentioned that Moneyham, who remains in jail awaiting a detention hearing, will undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
