Two Teens Fatally Shot, Four Others Injured at Makeshift Club in Houston

HOUSTON—Two teenagers lost their lives and four others were injured, including a 13-year-old girl, in a shooting incident at an unauthorized club in Houston, authorities reported on Sunday.

Upon their arrival at the scene late Saturday night, officers encountered “a very chaotic situation—a large crowd of individuals fleeing from a makeshift club,” stated Assistant Chief Luis Menendez-Sierra during a news briefing.

Authorities have yet to name a suspect and are urging anyone who attended the gathering to reach out with any information. Some witnesses informed detectives that they observed a man dressed entirely in black, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a facial mask, discharge a firearm into a crowd at the location.

Police revealed that a 16-year-old male succumbed to his injuries at the scene, while a 14-year-old female was pronounced dead at the hospital. Their identities are still awaiting confirmation by the medical examiner.

The four injured individuals, all females, were taken to a hospital. The 13-year-old is in critical condition; an 18-year-old is in serious condition, and a 17-year-old and 19-year-old are both reported as stable, according to police.

Menendez-Sierra mentioned that the majority of event attendees, which seemed to have been organized through social media, were minors gathered in an empty business establishment.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez remarked on X that “unauthorized, spontaneous gatherings can swiftly spiral into disorder and violence.”

“Pop-up parties pose significant safety risks, and teenagers should avoid them for their well-being,” he added.
