Progressives prioritize the rights of illegal immigrants over the protection of child victims.
Progressives often prioritize protecting illegal immigrant offenders, even at the expense of innocent children.
Take, for example, the recent arrest of Raymond Rojas Basilio, a man who spent two decades attempting to cross the border. He eventually succeeded but went on to sexually assault a child in New York City. After serving a short jail sentence, he was released in September, free to roam the city for months before ICE apprehended him.
This is a direct result of our problematic “sanctuary city” policies.
It’s purely by luck that Rojas Basilio didn’t commit another horrific crime against a child during that time (at least, as far as we are aware), but those weeks of freedom are exactly what the left envisioned for him.
New York’s ICE division aptly remarked: “As this case illustrates, it only takes one successful unlawful entry to do irreparable harm to a member of our community.”
Sex crimes committed by illegal immigrants are a significant issue and not confined to New York.
In September, Elmer Sola was detained by ICE after he was charged with raping a child in Nantucket.
In June, two illegal immigrants allegedly raped and murdered 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray in Texas.
In February, ICE arrested nearly 300 illegal immigrants who entered the country with the intention of committing sex crimes, including crimes against minors.
While those arrests are commendable, they represent just a small fraction compared to the nearly 8 million illegal immigrants welcomed by the Biden administration.
Yet, deep-blue cities and states, along with their leaders, persist in opposing President-elect Donald Trump’s planned mass deportations.
This stance was overwhelmingly rejected by Trump’s significant electoral victory.
Moreover, a majority of Americans now support mass deportations due to the turmoil initiated under Biden’s administration.
So why do these liberal strongholds continue to wage this losing battle?
Because they prioritize the rights of violent, border-crossing offenders over the safety of children.
It’s that straightforward.
