California Police Recover Stolen Gift Trailer Just in Time for the Holidays
CULVER CITY, Calif.—A trailer full of gifts that were stolen last month from a charitable organization has been recovered just in time for the holiday season, and a suspect is now in custody, officials announced on Thursday.
According to the Culver City Police Department, on November 22, authorities learned that Walk ‘n Rollers, a non-profit dedicated to child safety, had a trailer filled with holiday gifts stolen.
“Investigators anticipated that finding the trailer would be challenging, yet they persevered. A few weeks later, their hard work bore fruit. Thanks to the relentless efforts of detectives, the case progressed and resulted in an arrest along with the recovery of the trailer,” the department reported via social media.
While the recovery of the trailer was a success, many scooters, bicycles, and equipment were still missing. The department stated that they pooled resources to replace the lost items just days before Christmas and Hanukkah, with personnel busy assembling bikes and gear for delivery.
Officers presented the bicycles, scooters, helmets, and equipment to Jim Shanman, the head of Walk ‘n Rollers. “This is just fantastic,” Shanman expressed to the officers who delivered the gifts.
The name of the suspect involved has not been disclosed at this time.
“It was a collaborative effort to support the victim of this theft,” the department concluded.
