Celebrities Whose Homes Have Been Devastated by California Wildfires

A growing number of celebrities are reporting the loss of their homes as wildfires sweep through Pacific Palisades, the luxurious neighborhood in Los Angeles known for its affluent residents.

This area, situated between Santa Monica and Malibu, lies roughly 20 miles southwest of the iconic Hollywood sign and is home to some of the nation’s most expensive properties, with an average home price of $4.5 million, according to data from Realtor.com.

Among those affected are Mark Hamill, Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, and James Woods, all of whom have reported losing their residences.

Celebrities who also own homes in Pacific Palisades include Michael Keaton, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Bradley Cooper, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Miles Teller, and Eugene Levy.

The wildfires reached Pacific Palisades on Tuesday. “Long range spotting, rapid growth, structures threatened, strong winds,” city officials cautioned, as the Southern California Edison (SCE) began to cut power to certain areas due to hazardous fire weather characterized by extremely high winds.
On Wednesday, the City of Malibu released a public statement declaring the fires to be uncontained, advising all residents to prepare for a swift evacuation should conditions deteriorate.

Later that day, Paris Hilton took to Instagram to express her “heartbreak beyond words” upon seeing her home on a news broadcast.

“Watching the news while sitting with my family and witnessing our Malibu house burning down live is an experience no one should ever have to face,” Hilton shared. “This house held countless cherished memories.”

“Although the loss is immense, I cling to the thankfulness that my family and pets are safe. My heart and prayers go out to every family affected by these devastating fires,” she added.

As more residents of Los Angeles are instructed to evacuate, “Star Wars” star Mark Hamill disclosed on Instagram that he evacuated his home on Tuesday along with his wife, Marilou, and their dog, Trixie.

“We left Malibu in a rush, with small fires burning on both sides of the road as we approached PCH,” he recounted, describing it as the “most horrific fire since ’96.”

Oscar-nominated actor James Woods shared on X that he had just completed renovations on his home last month. After evacuating, he realized his house was gone when all the fire alarms went off simultaneously on his phone.
“It truly tests your spirit, losing everything in an instant, I must admit,” the actor said, posting a video from his home before the flames consumed it.

The actor also voiced his criticism of the government through several posts.

“Little to none,” Woods remarked. “When asked how many fire hydrants had sufficient water, this was the fire captain’s reply … And then the building burned.”
Billy Crystal and his wife Janice informed People magazine that their home of 46 years had gone up in flames.

“We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every corner of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can never be taken away.”

On Wednesday night, “Halloween” actress Jamie Lee Curtis appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” to share her story.

“It’s just a disaster in Southern California,” she stated. “Many, many friends have now lost their homes.”

Another actress affected by the fires, Kate Beckinsale, expressed her concerns.

“Listening to the winds last night, I prayed,” she stated in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

“I anticipated it would be severe … but the shock of the entire Palisades being devastated is unfathomably tragic,” the actress lamented, reflecting on the loss of schools, shops, and restaurants in the area.

“Pacific Palisades is a community that is quite rare in Los Angeles, heavily populated with families with young children and pets.”
