The 47th president had thrown his support behind the Chiefs in their rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles during the recent Super Bowl — the largest sporting event in the nation.
Trump informed Fox News’ Bret Baier that while he likes both teams, “I have to go with Kansas City,” emphasizing the prowess of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, while also mentioning that Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, is “a Trump fan, a MAGA fan.”
In contrast, millions of viewers witnessed the Eagles triumph with a score of 40-22, thwarting the Chiefs’ pursuit of achieving three consecutive Super Bowl titles.
Despite the outcome, Butker maintained a positive demeanor during his White House visit, where he met Donald Trump in the Oval Office. The pro athlete also posed for photographs with White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“Harrison Butker stopped by the White House today, and the President couldn’t have been happier to say hello,” a White House official told Fox News.
Also, White House aide Margo Martin shared a picture of Butker and Trump in the Oval Office on social media, captioning it: “The GOAT of kicking @buttkicker7 meets the GOAT of Presidents @realDonaldTrump.”
Butker has been a vocal supporter of Trump during his 2024 campaign and stands firmly behind pro-life initiatives, being a devout Catholic.
“I’m supporting the president that’s going to be the most pro-life president, and I think Donald Trump is the most pro-life president,” Butker expressed in October. “That’s a topic that is of utmost importance to me. We need to advocate for the most vulnerable and the unborn, and that should be our priority.”
Last year, Butker gained attention for his commencement address at Benedictine College, where he suggested female graduates should embrace their roles as “homemakers” and mothers.
In that speech, Butker emphasized his Christian beliefs — criticizing former Democrat President Joe Biden for his pro-abortion stance, despite Biden identifying as Catholic.
This visit was not Butker’s first to the White House; he had previously attended in 2023 following the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl victory.
During that occasion, he wore a tie inscribed with “Vulnerari Praesidio” — a Latin phrase meaning “Protect the most vulnerable,” which pertains to the unborn. He also donned a gold pin featuring the footprints of a 10-week-old baby.
